ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

Introducing the Responsible AI Hackathon hosted by the DATA Initiative at Northeastern University and MathWorks. The hackathon will take place in the week of February 25th.

Artificial Intelligence is heavily used in online platforms like Twitter and Amazon for personalized recommendations, facial recognition, anti-counterfeit tools, and more. The data for this analysis can be skewed and introduce an unintentional bias. We want you to identify and illustrate how to tackle this bias.

We will be running talks and workshops during hackathon week to bring everyone up to speed. Check resources for more details.

Requirements

WHAT TO BUILD

Look at data available on an online platform of your choosing, identify how a bias may have been introduced in the prediction data, and define how you can make the AI as fair as possible.

There is a special prize for the team that showcases the best use of MATLAB.

WHAT TO SUBMIT

All Submissions must include a link to a GitHub repository consisting of:

  • All code and a readme file describing how to run the project
  • A less than 3-minute video demonstrating a functioning prototype of your project
  • A document with a description of your project, the tools used, and the biggest challenges
